其安易持,其未兆易謀,其脆易破,其微易散;為之於未有,治之於未亂。合抱之木生於毫末,九層之台起於累土,千里之行始於足下。為者敗之,執者失之,是以聖人無為,故無敗;無執,故無失。民之從事,常於幾成而敗之,慎終如始,則無敗事。是以聖人慾不欲,不貴難得之貨,學不學,復眾人之所過,以輔萬物之自然而不敢為。

安穩的容易把持,未現的容易謀劃,乾脆的容易破裂,微小的容易飄散;沒有出現之前就籌備,尚未混亂之前就治理;粗壯大樹成長於細枝末梢,高大樓台積累於土石,遠途旅行開始於腳下的邁步;妄為就會失敗,把持就會失去;聖人不妄為,所以不失敗,不把持,所以不失去;百姓做事,做到幾成後通常失敗;因為他們本應該像開始一樣保持謹慎到結果。所以聖人就是欲求做到無欲,不珍貴稀罕之物,不學新知識,而是復盤眾人的過錯,用於協助萬物保持自然狀況,不敢有所妄為。

It's easy to control, when it is still; it's easy to plan, when have not emerged; it’s easy to break, when it is dry; it's easy to float; when it is in particle; it is easy to handle before it happens,  it is easy to rule before it chaos happen. the thick tree grows from the end of the twig, the high platform is piled up by earth and stone, far away traveling begins at the foot of the step; you will fail if you try hard, you will lose, if you hold tightly; therefore, saint are inaction, so he will not fail, he will not hold, so he will never lose; people usually fail after a few steps; as they should keep cautious to end same as they did at the beginning. Therefore, saints have only desire of being no desire, do not pursuit  rare things,  learn nothing new but review fault of people to help all things maintaining their natural condition, and they dare not to do anything they want.
